Successor of opened doors in 1942 Higher Technical School in Sofia, renamed in 1945 in State Polytechnic Technical University - Sofia is the first higher technical school in the country from which originate four separate still existing universities More than 800 highly qualified teachers keep teaching all the training and degrees - "professional bachelor", "bachelor", "master" and "doctor". Of study provides high quality vocational and language training, which contributes to its international recognition. All courses are accredited and continue to participate in the accreditation cycle of NEAA.
The Electronics Computer Aided Design (ECAD) Laboratory at the Technical University of Sofia was established in 1994 and equipped in the framework of the Joint European project TEMPUS SJEP 3038. It is a Faculty Laboratory and serves all the departments of the faculty. The Laboratory is an information and training center. A substantial amount of scientific research activities, Integrated Circuits and System design, undergraduate and Ph.D. students education is carried out here.
In its activity the laboratory integrates the experience and knowledge of lecturers, experts and students from the Technical University - Sofia as well as from leading scientific research and manufacturing organizations in the field of Microelectronics. The laboratory is a member of several international organizations and consortiums like EUROPRACTICE, MICN etc., the activities of which are connected with the design and manufacturing in Electronics and Microelectronics. Some of the results of the activities in the Laboratory are several designed and manufactured CMOS digital and digital-analog Integrated Circuits, development and implementation of CAD systems for hybrid Integrated Circuits, management of university administration, modeling of electronic elements and processes, application software, databases etc.
