1980, Manebach, GDR
After the realization of the first three seminars by the initiating universities there was an agreement to continue with the following seminars using the same sequence of countries they should take place in. The organization and the scientific leadership of the 4th Seminar in GDR was undertaken by Prof. Kienast, head of the Department of "Design and Technology of Electronic Modules" at Ilmenau University of Technology. He was an active participant of all former seminars. The "4. Internationale Frühjahrs-Seminar Elektroniktechnologie (4th International Spring Seminar on Electronics Technology)" took place from May 6th to 9th, 1980, in a guest house in Manebach, Thuringia, about the subject "Hybrid Technology" including the aspects:
More than 30 participants from GDR, Hungary and Poland discussed the latest results of hybrid modules production and thin film technology presented in 18 papers. In this seminar the current importance of hybrid technology and their integration in higher education was declared. The 18 papers were printed in a booklet (136 pages).
It was the wish of the participants from Warsaw to realize the next seminar in 1981 in Poland, but unfortunately it became clear during the following months that it was not possible to prepare such an international meeting because the political situation at that time in Poland was really a tense one. The planned seminar had to be canceled. It was not possible to realize an accelerated preparation switching to one of the other countries. Therefore there was no seminar in 1981.
