1977, Weißig, GDR
Dresden University of Technology, particularly the Department of Electronics Technology, organized the "Problemseminar Mathematik und Elektronik-Technologie" (Seminar Mathematics and Electronics Technology), held from April 12th to 15th, 1977, in the guest house in Weißig - in the beautiful Saxony Switzerland. The organization was realized by Prof. Sauer.
30 participants from different Universities of Technology in Berlin, Budapest, Dresden, Ilmenau, Leipzig, Mittweida, Prague and Wismar as well as from research institutes of semiconductor industries and computer technologies came to attend the seminar. Only eight papers - due to organizational reasons - were printed in a small booklet (104 pages). So unfortunately today we only have a small part of all the given contributions of that seminar in a printed form and therefore a sample only. Nevertheless, a wide spectrum of the mathematical methods was presented: operations research, design of experiments, optimization methods, Markov's chains and processes, queuing theory and graph theory. All of these methods have been used for solving industrial problems and educating students in electronics technology.
