Regarding the accommodation we would suggest three hotels of different categories, as follows. All prices are valid from the 1st of April, 2005.

It is a very good hotel in the city, next to BME, in a walking distance from the meeting site. We have a university discount price of Euro 88 / night / single room with bath. Please advise your request to the concerning member of ETT and we will manage the reservation.

2. Professors' Guest House of BME, H-1111 Budapest, Stoczek str. 5-7., 7th Floor. Phone: +36 (1) 463-4103, Fax: +36 (1) 463-3936, http://www.oszi-sef.hu/hotel/angol/indexed.htm , E-mail: info@otevszak.hu. This guest house is next to the BME campus, very near to the Meeting Room of BME-ETT in Building V2. Room 256. University discount prices: a double room with single occupancy is HUF 13800 (EUR 58) / night, with double occupancy is HUF 14950 (EUR 63) / night, including breakfast. It is a guest house with a small kitchen next to the room, but there is no restaurant in the building. It is recommended, very popular for the guests of the University. 3. Gerand Hotel Griff Junior *, 1113 Budapest, XI, Bartok B. ut 152, http://hungarystartshere.com/gen?genid=28296 . It is a youth hostel with a few guests' rooms. The hotel is 5 tram stops with 1 change far from the University, however all cheap hotels we could offer are in the same distance. All rooms are double rooms, the university discount price of a room with shower and single occupancy is 7000 HUF (28 Euro) / room / night, with double occupancy is 9300 HUF (37 Euro) / room / night. Breakfast is included. Please make your reservation by yourself, just refer to BME to get the university discount.

Other cheaper Hotels and Pensions (e.g. Hotel Ventura) are available longer distance (a few tram stops) from the site of the course.

The recommended hotels are in the very heart of the city, near to the famous Váci street, the most elegant shopping site of Budapest. Five minutes walk from Hotel Gellért through the Szabadság híd (Liberty bridge), or from Hotel Mercure Korona along the Vámház krt. to the Fővám tér, where Váci utca (Váci street) begins. On the other side of the square you can find the famous Market Hall, where even Ms Margaret Thatcher purchased some paprika (red pepper) and souvenir for her husband. Starting from here, along the Váci street, at first one can find nice small restaurants, further, beyond the Elisabeth bridge (Erzsébet híd) there are the nicest (and most expensive) shops of the city.
You can do good shoping in the large department houses Corvin and/or Skala, or in the many small shops of Lurdy Ház. The Corvin is located at the Blaha Lujza tér, at the crossing of Rákoczi út and József/Erzsébet körút. Along these streets there are also good shops. Corvin and Skala are 8 stops far of each other by tram No 4. Along this line there is Goldman tér with the course site. Traveling to the Lurdy Ház is also easy by tram No 2 that runs along the bank of Danube on the Pest side.
